Yuga Labs Launches ‘Dookey Dash: Unclogged’ with $1M in Prizes

Date:

Yuga Labs, the creators of Bored Ape Yacht Club, have teamed up with partner studio Faraway to release Dookey Dash: Unclogged, a new sewer-themed game available for free on iOS, Android, Mac, and PC in selected regions. This free-to-play version offers players a chance to compete in a high-stakes tournament with over $1 million in prizes.

From NFT-Gated to Free-to-Play
The launch of Dookey Dash: Unclogged comes more than a year after Yuga Labs introduced the original NFT-gated version of the game. The original version gained attention when Fortnite esports star Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson won the top prize, a unique NFT golden key, which he later sold for 3,333 Ethereum, valued at $1.63 million at the time. This free-to-play version retains the core gameplay mechanics, where players navigate an endless sewer filled with obstacles, but now anyone can join the fun without needing an NFT.

New Features and In-Game Economy
One of the standout features in Dookey Dash: Unclogged is the introduction of “creator mode.” This mode allows players to upload their own 3D models or 2D art to create custom avatars, vehicles, and stickers. These in-game assets can be traded on the Faraway Shop, an NFT marketplace, and can be used across other gaming experiences, adding a new layer to the game’s ecosystem.

Competitive Season and Prizes
Season one of Dookey Dash: Unclogged has officially begun, offering players a chance to climb the weekly leaderboard for various prizes. The most coveted reward is the “Golden Plunger,” a tradable NFT that grants access to the end-of-season tournament where $1 million in prizes await. Players can earn these Golden Plungers by ranking in the top 250 on the leaderboard or by winning them on the “Wheel of Dookey.”

Quarterly Tournaments and Delays
According to the game’s official website, tournaments will be held quarterly, with each season lasting three months. Although Dookey Dash: Unclogged was initially slated for a spring release, Yuga Labs delayed the launch twice—first to make the game more casual-friendly, and later to explore a significant marketing opportunity in September. The nature of this opportunity remains undisclosed.
